Amira's Moroccan Meatballs (Kefta Tajine)

Ingredients

Meatballs:

  • Ground beef
  • Diced onion
  • A cap full of cumin
  • A lot of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cap fulls of paprika
  • Thinly cut cilantro and parsley
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon harissa paste
  • Dash of turmeric

Sauce:

  • 3 diced tomatoes for single serving
  • 5-7 diced tomatoes if serving a group
  • Olive oil
  • Diced onion
  • A cap full of cumin
  • A lot of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cap fulls of paprika
  • Thinly cut cilantro and parsley
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Tablespoon of harissa paste
  • Dash of turmeric

Instructions

For the meatballs

  • Mix all ingredients together
  • Let sit for a half hour

Sauce:

  • In a pot add olive oil, diced onion, spices, and tomatoes, let simmer until tomatoes are mushy/ falling apart and cooked down

Cook:

  • Roll the meatballs about a teaspoon size, can go up to tablespoon just try to keep them consistent
  • Simmer and stir occasionally until meatballs are cooked, usually around 10-15 minutes
