Ice Cream in a Bag

  • 1 sandwich size ziplock bag
  • 1 gallon size ziplock bag
  • 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • ½ c. half-and-half or milk
  • ¼ tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp rock salt
  • ice
  • Toppings of your choice


  • In a small resealable plastic bag, combine half-and-half, sugar, and vanilla. Push out excess air and seal.
  • Into a large resealable plastic bag, combine enough ice to fill bag 3/4 full with salt. Place small bag inside the bigger bag and shake vigorously, 15-20 minutes, until ice cream has hardened.
  • Remove from bag and enjoy with your favorite ice cream toppings.
